iPhone Duo wallpaper size
A wallpaper made for the wrong size gets cropped or stretched. These are the pixel sizes Apple lists for the two iPhone Duo screens, and a few tips for the fold.
The sizes
Apple lists the outer display at 1398 × 2034 pixels (5.4 inches, 460 ppi) and the inner display at 1878 × 2670 pixels (7.6 inches, 430 ppi).
Open like a book, the inner screen is wider than tall, so a wallpaper you want to see in landscape is 2670 × 1878.
| Screen | Diagonal | Pixels | ppi |
|---|---|---|---|
| Outer (closed) | 5.4" | 1398 × 2034 | 460 |
| Inner (open) | 7.6" | 1878 × 2670 | 430 |
Keep the picture off the fold
The inner screen folds down the middle. Apple's design guidance tells developers to keep tappable controls out of the fold, and the same sense applies to a wallpaper: put the subject to one side, not on the centre line.
Make one in your browser
Our free wallpaper maker draws a water wallpaper at the exact size of either screen and can show where the fold falls. The download is a full-size PNG, and nothing leaves your browser.
Questions
What size is an iPhone Duo wallpaper?
1398 × 2034 pixels for the outer screen and 1878 × 2670 pixels for the inner screen, according to Apple.
Will the fold show on a wallpaper?
The fold is part of the inner screen's glass, so a bright subject right on the centre line can be hard to read. Place it to one side.
